After you have a Trial created, the first thing you'll want to do it enter the judging assignments for the trial. Along with that, we'll do a running order, but we have the ability to change the running order at any time in the program, even a few minutes before the draw if necessary. For this walk-through, I have created an AKC trial with a JC/QC test. Here is the first screen, similar to what you'll have after you create a trial:

LCSoft Main Screen

This your "main dashboard" as far as the trial is concerned. The various tabs above the button array contains different pages where you can enter information about each trial. The first tab, "Commands," is the main command center of the trial, but we're not quite ready for that yet. First, we need to make sure that we have judges entered correctly for the breeds we want to run.

Judging Assignments

Click Judges & Running Order Tab to go to the Judges & Running Order page. All of the breeds for that venue will be pre-populated, but you can always add an additional at the bottom if necessary. The columns in this form:

  • Breed - Names of each of the applicable breeds including "All (Test)" and "All (Singles)"
  • Running Order - Ultimate order of how each breed will run.  I wouldn't bother assigning this until the morning-of's Roll Call.  You can ignore and leave blank breeds which have no runners present.
  • Breed Count - How many are entered.
  • Judge 1's Name
  • Judge 2's Name - Optional if single judged
  • Lure Operator
  • Huntmaster
Judges Page Blank

For each breed, select a "Judge1" and "Judge2." Make sure to put the judges in 1 -> 2 order by their last name. You don't have to enter in the lure op/hunt master information at this time. You can do that on the morning of the trial when you know who's there! Keep entering breeds and assignments until you have all your breeds covered.

If you're missing someone, open the "Personnel" form and add them in.  If they're listed in Personnel, but not listed as a judge, check their Judging Abilities and make sure they have their license added. If you come back to this screen and they're still not showing up, refresh the screen by pressing the "F5" key.

Running Order

This is something best done on the morning of the trial. Breeds without entries can be ignored and do not need assignments or an order number.

The Sort box has several options to help you set and sort the running order:

  • Breed - Sort by Breed
  • Order# - Sort by the Order Number you put in
  • J1/J2 - Sort alphabetically, first by Judge 1 then by Judge 2
  • J2/J1 - Sort alphabetically, first by Judge 2 then by Judge 1

Enter an incremental values starting with 1 in the Running Order column.

Now that we have judges for our trial, we're ready for the entries.
